About Bissett Jiu-Jitsu
Bissett Jiu-Jitsu teaches the Jishin-Ryu ("self-confidence") style of jiu-jitsu. Bissett Jiu-Jitsu prepares students to not only react and respond correctly to a complete range of attack situations, but also to understand all aspects of confrontation so that they build confidence and self-reliance.
Bissett Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes practical, effective self-defense, constantly training for real situations in a realistic manner. The curriculum covers a full range of defenses for punching, kicking, grabbing, weapons attacks, multiple opponents, seated, and ground situations. Bissett Jiu-Jitsu trains each defense as a complete situation, from the initial threat through the attack-response, to the prevention of further attack.
Portage Jiu-Jitsu, a member of the Bissett Jiu-Jitsu Dens, has been in existence since 1987 and has trained hundreds of students. Portage Jiu-Jitsu is not a commercial club and is operated by a group of highly dedicated volunteers. Students receive thorough instruction and are held to rigorous standards. Instructors expect the best of themselves and of their students.
